Position Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Cashier to join their Overport store team. The role focuses on delivering accurate and efficient point-of-sale service while ensuring customers receive a consistent, high-quality retail experience.

The Senior Cashier is responsible for handling customer transactions, maintaining cash accuracy, and ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures to minimise risk and prevent fraud.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process all customer transactions accurately using the Dis-Chem POS system
  • Handle various payment methods including cash, cards, vouchers, and loyalty programmes
  • Ensure compliance with customer service standards and operational procedures
  • Maintain a professional relationship with customers at all times
  • Report customer complaints and compliments to management
  • Monitor promotions, pricing updates, and store campaigns
  • Ensure all voids, price changes, and overrides are properly authorised
  • Maintain strict control over cash handling and daily till balancing
  • Secure cash in accordance with company SOPs, including drop safe procedures
  • Prevent fraud risks through careful monitoring and adherence to procedures
  • Assist in processing returns and exchanges where authorised
  • Ensure accurate scanning and processing of all items and transactions
  • Maintain confidentiality of daily cash handling and store financial information
  • Identify and report suspicious behaviour or security risks to management
  • Provide support in addressing customer queries related to products and services

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ cashier or till operations experience
  • Computer literate (MS Office knowledge required)
  • Strong numerical and accuracy skills
  • Good command of the English language
  • Willingness to work retail hours
