Pump and Abrasion Technologies (PABT), a global leader in the design and manufacturing of heavy-duty slurry pumps, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Buyer to join its procurement team in Centurion.

Role Purpose

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing procurement activities to ensure consistent supply, competitive pricing, and high-quality materials. The role involves both local and international procurement, requiring strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.


Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

  • Source and procure direct and indirect materials required by the business
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing
  • Place orders with approved suppliers and monitor order progress
  • Process requisitions and maintain procurement documentation

Supplier Management & Negotiation

  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and service agreements with suppliers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives, including consignment stock agreements
  • Conduct daily price negotiations and supplier performance evaluations

Cost Control & Performance

  • Analyse supplier costs and benchmark against industry standards
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure cost efficiency and reliability
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement

Inventory & Demand Planning

  • Manage stock levels to ensure availability without overstocking
  • Perform forecasting and demand planning in collaboration with internal teams
  • Monitor inventory trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly

Quality Assurance & Collaboration

  • Work closely with technical teams to ensure materials meet quality standards
  • Address and resolve quality-related issues with suppliers
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to support production requirements

Administration & Reporting

  • Complete supplier onboarding documentation and application forms
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and reports
  • Handle internal and external procurement-related queries efficiently
  • Perform additional administrative tasks as required

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • BCom Degree or relevant qualification (essential)

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain
  • Exposure to international procurement practices (advantageous)
  • Experience with Syspro ERP system (advantageous)
