The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the club’s infrastructure, fitness equipment, pools, HVAC systems, and general building services while ensuring minimal downtime and high-quality facility standards.
Key Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance & Equipment Repair
- Perform routine maintenance on gym equipment, plant systems, and building infrastructure
- Follow preventative maintenance schedules for HVAC systems and other critical equipment
- Inspect club facilities daily through walkabouts and checklist reviews
- Identify faults and implement corrective actions promptly
- Repair and maintain gym equipment, premises, and related systems where possible
- Maintain records of equipment servicing and maintenance history
- Ensure downtime is kept within approved limits and reported correctly
Facilities & Building Maintenance
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on building structures and systems
- Liaise with landlords, contractors, and service providers on repair requirements
- Ensure all facilities are maintained in line with brand standards
- Monitor and address wear and tear across club infrastructure
- Ensure general maintenance tasks are completed to required standards
Pool Plant Operations
- Monitor pool chemical levels, temperature, and water quality
- Record pool readings and ensure compliance with operational standards
- Conduct pool inspections, including weirs and filtration systems
- Ensure correct dosing, backwashing, and maintenance procedures are followed
- Maintain pool hygiene and safety compliance at all times
Health & Safety Compliance
- Implement and maintain health and safety standards within the club
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments
- Ensure contractors comply with safety regulations while on site
- Maintain safe working environments for staff and members
Project & Contractor Management
- Assist with implementation of maintenance projects and action plans

Minimum Requirements
- No formal qualification requirement stated (technical competency essential)
- Proven hands-on maintenance experience in facilities or technical environments
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance
- Experience working with gym equipment or similar mechanical systems (advantageous)
- Understanding of pool plant operations (advantageous)
