Position Overview
MA Automotive Tool and Die (PTY) Ltd is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Quality Lead to oversee, develop, and maintain quality systems within a high-performance automotive manufacturing environment. The role focuses on ensuring that all products and processes meet strict customer and OEM requirements while driving continuous improvement across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems in line with ISO and OEM requirements
- Ensure full compliance with IATF 16949 standards and customer-specific requirements
- Conduct and manage internal audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively
- Maintain and improve quality documentation, processes, and reporting systems
Production Quality Control
- Ensure all manufactured parts meet customer specifications and quality standards
- Monitor plant quality performance indicators and drive improvements where needed
- Analyse production data to identify defects, trends, and root causes
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality
Customer & Complaint Management
- Manage customer quality requests and complaints from receipt through to resolution
- Ensure timely communication and feedback to customers regarding quality issues
- Drive resolution of quality-related escalations within the plant
Continuous Improvement
- Lead problem-solving initiatives within the production environment
- Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance quality performance and reduce defects
- Apply tools such as Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and quality core tools to improve outcomes
Leadership & Supervision
- Manage and develop subordinates within the quality department
- Provide coaching, training, and guidance to ensure team effectiveness
- Support the Quality Manager in budget planning and cost control initiatives
- Promote accountability and performance within the quality team
Minimum Requirements
- B-Tech in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Qualification or training in Total Quality Management
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 standards and OEM requirements
- Internal Auditor certification
- Strong understanding of Quality Core Tools
- Six Sigma Green Belt (advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- At least 3 years’ experience in press tools or assembly processes
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the automotive industry
