Role Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking a Frontline Supervisor for its Die Boord store in Stellenbosch. The role focuses on ensuring efficient point-of-sale operations, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining accuracy and control in all cashier activities.
The successful candidate will act as the link between management and cashiers, ensuring smooth daily operations at all till points while maintaining strict compliance with company policies and fraud prevention standards.
Key Responsibilities
Frontline & Cashier Supervision
- Supervise daily cashier operations and ensure smooth functioning of all till points
- Liaise between management and cashier staff
- Train, guide, and support cashiers, including new employees
- Monitor cashier performance and customer interactions
Customer Service & Queue Management
- Ensure efficient flow of customer queues and reduce waiting times
- Address customer complaints and compliments and escalate to management
- Ensure customers receive a consistent, high-quality shopping experience
- Observe customer feedback and respond appropriately
Cash Handling & POS Control
- Manage cash shortages and overages, including float control
- Authorise line voids, price overrides, and tender adjustments
- Manage refunds and returns according to company procedures
- Ensure accurate processing of all payment types (cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, etc.)
- Maintain strict control over point-of-sale transactions to reduce fraud risk
Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure accurate handling and verification of POS documentation
- Monitor drop registers, customer documents, and transaction records
- Ensure compliance with all internal operating procedures
- Oversee back shopping and returned goods processes
Stock & Transaction Control
- Ensure all outgoing stock/items/scripts are properly scanned and accounted for
- Maintain accountability for till-related documentation and processes
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 2 years’ cashier experience
- At least 6 months shadowing a cashier supervisor
- Strong numerical ability
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Willingness to work retail hours
Advantageous:
- Certificate in Computer Literacy
- 3 years’ retail experience with supervisory exposure
- Working knowledge of SAP
