Role Overview
Maragon Mooikloof High School, part of the ADvTECH Group, is seeking a qualified and experienced Mathematics Teacher to join its FET phase teaching team. The role focuses on delivering high-quality mathematics instruction that promotes academic excellence, critical thinking, and student development.
The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic learning environment that supports learners in achieving their academic potential and preparing for tertiary education and future careers.
Key Purpose of the Role
To plan, deliver, and assess Mathematics education in a high school environment while supporting student development, maintaining academic standards, and contributing to a positive school culture.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Delivery
- Plan and deliver Mathematics lessons aligned with curriculum requirements (IEB/Cambridge/IB where applicable)
- Create engaging, future-focused lessons that inspire and challenge learners
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Maintain high academic standards in classroom delivery
Assessment & Reporting
- Design and administer assessments in line with school policies
- Mark, record, and report on student performance accurately
- Provide meaningful feedback to support learner improvement
- Maintain accurate academic records and documentation
Student Support & Behaviour Management
- Manage classroom discipline effectively
- Support learners in developing positive study habits and discipline
- Identify learners requiring additional academic support
- Foster a respectful and productive learning environment
Communication & Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with learners, parents, and colleagues
- Communicate academic progress clearly and professionally
- Participate in staff meetings, school planning, and collaboration activities
School Contribution
- Act as a brand ambassador for the school and ADvTECH values
- Contribute to extracurricular and school development activities
- Participate in school events, parent engagements, and open days
- Support school policies, health, and safety standards
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in Mathematics or related field
- PGCE or B.Ed (FET Phase) specialising in Mathematics
- SACE registration (mandatory)
- Police clearance certificate
- 2–5 years teaching experience
- Experience teaching Mathematics at FET level
- Computer and digital literacy
- First Aid certification (advantageous)
