Bursary Officer – Sector Education And Training

BURSARY OFFICER REF NO: 3/3/1/16/2025
Directorate: Sector Education and Training
Stipend: R325 101 per annum (Level 07)
Location: Gauteng (Pretoria): Head Office

Conditions:

  • Applicants must be in possession of a National Diploma in Human Resources Development / Public Administration / Office Management / Education (NQF6).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in bursary administration, information management, database management and working with students in institutions of higher learning.

Job related knowledge:

Project management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Skills Development Act, SAQA Act, Further Education and Training Qualification Act.

Job related skills:

Facilitation & Project Management skills, Planning, Initiative, Interpersonal skills and Problem solving.
A valid driver’s license.

Recruitment and Selection:

  • You will help recruit and choose bursary holders.
  • Each year, you will figure out what skills are needed in agriculture.
  • You will then create yearly bursary advertisements.

Advertisement:

  • You will help advertise bursary opportunities.
  • This includes using national newspapers and online platforms.
  • You will share these ads and posters with important groups.
  • These groups include government agriculture departments, cities, research centers, schools, colleges, libraries, and labor offices.
  • You’ll also share them online and with the public.

Application Handling:

  • You will manage bursary applications.
  • You will receive, sort, and record application forms.
  • You will send letters to applicants who were not chosen.
  • You will also send letters to confirm applications were received.
  • You will ask for any missing documents.

Selection Process:

  • You will do an initial selection using a 14-point system.
  • You will prepare files for the selection committee.
  • You will arrange and manage all the details for the National Bursary Committee meeting.
  • This meeting makes the final decisions on bursary awards.

Post-Selection:

  • You will create a full list of candidates chosen by the committee.
  • You will write award letters for new bursary holders.
  • These letters will go to students in different study areas.
  • You will tell successful candidates that they received a bursary.
  • You will coordinate the signing of bursary contracts with the chosen students.

Communication and Administration:

  • You will answer phone calls and letters from the public.
  • This includes emails and in-person visits.
  • You will inform different institutions about new and existing bursaries.
  • You will provide administrative and information management services.
