Role Overview

Cape Union Mart International is seeking an experienced Store Leader to manage operations at the Platz Am Meer store in Swakopmund. The role is responsible for driving sales performance, ensuring operational efficiency, and delivering an exceptional customer experience in line with brand standards.

The Store Leader will oversee all aspects of store management including sales performance, staff leadership, stock control, financial management, and customer service excellence.


Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Performance

  • Achieve and exceed monthly and annual sales targets
  • Drive store profitability through effective operational management
  • Monitor performance against budgets and implement corrective actions where necessary

Operations & Stock Control

  • Ensure proper stock management to maintain product availability and reduce losses
  • Monitor stock risks and ensure effective inventory control systems
  • Maintain high merchandising standards aligned with brand guidelines

Customer Experience

  • Deliver excellent customer service and ensure a premium shopping experience
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Resolve customer concerns efficiently and professionally

Leadership & People Management

  • Recruit, train, and develop store staff
  • Manage scheduling, performance, and payroll administration
  • Motivate, inspire, and hold teams accountable for performance
  • Promote company culture and create a positive working environment

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Oversee store financial operations and ensure accuracy in reporting
  • Maintain strict control over cash handling and financial processes
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

Compliance & Safety

  • Implement and enforce health and safety standards
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies and operational procedures
  • Promote a safe, disciplined, and compliant store environment

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in store management
  • At least 8 years’ retail experience
  • Experience managing a high-volume retail store (R20 million+ turnover)
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office proficiency required)
  • Clear criminal record
  • Strong communication skills across all levels
